D.C.M. London Gazette 14.11.1916. 'For conspicuous gallantry in volunteering to carry a very important message, over open country and under a very heavy artillery and machine-gun fire, after the previous two messengers had both been killed in the attempt. He succeeded and then voluntarily carried back an important operation order.'
14273 Private Arthur Wright, D.C.M., born at Hawstead, Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk, arrived in France 31.8.1915. He was killed in action there 24.10.1918, while serving with the 11th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, and is buried at Vendegies Cross Roads Cemetery, Bermerain, France.
