ALS "Oliver Wendell Holmes," 1p, small 8vo, Boston, 5/12/1892. He writes Miss Susie Emerson, teacher at the Chelmsford School, "I am very much obliged to you for your letter telling me of the action of your pupils with reference to the tree they have planted. You may assure them that their token of regard has given me great pleasure and that I hope if the tree flourishes their fortunes in life may keep pace with it." VG. With original envelope.
