New York: George Washington Bridge - Colossal photograph of "Hudson River Bridge Tower" 1929, showing the bridge in construction, with only its towers on either side of the river completed. Legend in lower margin reads, "Hudson River Bridge Tower / New York Side / Manufactured and Erected by / McClintic - Marshall Co / 1928-1929." A ca. 32" x 18.5" image, matted under glass in a wooden frame, overall size ca. 44" x 29". A magnificent item worthy of prominent display. Fine. Original plans were for the towers to be encased in concrete, but due to financial and aesthetic concerns, they were left uncovered. Widely praised, the bridge is one of the world´s busiest; when built it had the longest main span in the world, and even now is the only suspension bridge with 14 traffic lanes. Estimate US$ 500-750
