World War II: Iraq v. Britain - Soccer! Unusual Flyer, 4pp, 4to, announcing on the front page "Baghdad Red Cross Week Football Match / Iraq Army / V. / British Army, North Iraq / at the / Scouts´ Ground / on / Wednesday 7th, February 1945 / at 2.30 p.m. / All proceeds in aid of the Red Cross." Page 2 gives the line-ups for each team, while pages 3 and 4 give the same information in Arabic. Folds, soiling of last page, otherwise very good. After World War I, the region now known as Iraq was put under British mandate, which lasted until 1932.
