Bennett School: May Bennett American educator. The Book "May Friend Bennett, a Memoir." Marie Farnsworth Willcox. Privately published, 1930. Large 8vo, 1/4 blue cloth with light blue boards and gilt-lettered spine. Tipped to front endpapers are a TLS by "May F. Bennett," 1/2 p, 8vo, on "The Bennett School" stationery, Millbrook, NY, 2/11/1906, to Mary K. Feathers, thanking her for being the first to subscribe to a loan for the school; and an ALS by Wynne Matthison / or (Kennedy),", oblong 12mo, Millbrook, 5/5/1914, sending her get well wishes. With Feathers´s owner´s signature on first free endpaper. Bumped and rubbed edges, front hinge cracked on interior, some puckering from tipping in of letters, overall very good. The Bennett School for Girls was initially a finishing school, and Miss Bennett naturally became a great influence on many of her students. In 1950, it grew into a four-year college, but by 1977 it had closed. Estimate US$ 50-75
