War Reminiscences, 1928 A letter answering an inquiry for recollections: TL, by a D.S. Beemer, 1p, 4to, Scranton, PA, 2/7/1928, reading in part, "I ran away from home at the age of 15 and enlisted in the old 143rd Reg Penn Inf´ty, while at City Pint Vir, where we laid a few days waiting for orders...While at City Point President Lincoln and his staff rode down the street and stoped about a block below the Baricks...but I was too too timid so did (not) have the oppertunaty I longd for to speak to the great Lincoln." Signed with a rubber stamp, and all misspellings are the writer´s! Unusual first person account and good view of the times. With a printed image of Beemer in later life; original photo of two "Lieutenants 1st Vol. Cav." Also, an unused furlough form from Guyton Hospital, in Georgia, 186-. Estimate US$ 40-50
