[Lincoln]: 1864 Election ALS "James Hardin," 1p, 8vo, Cincinnati, 11/10/1864, to sewing machine giant the Singer Manufacturing Co. [in NY]. He orders "200 No. 5 Shuttles / 6 Letter A Balance Wheels / 12 Spools for No. 2 Machine & for no. 3 Bobbin" before reporting about the vote held two days earlier: "The Election is over and all right. We have just receiv´d a Dispatch that New York has given a Majority for Lincoln. Hoping that confidence will now again be restored, and business again move on..." Pencil and pen notes from the Singer Co. at head. Small piece out at upper left corner, mounting strip on verso, showing through at left, otherwise VG. Lincoln carried both NY and OH. Just across the river from Cincinnati, Kentucky was one of only three states to give its electoral votes to George B. McClellan. Estimate US$ 40-50
