World War I: Black Heroes Two original Posters, one, 20" x 16", showing a black recruit saying farewell to his sweetheart as a black regiment marches behind him with the flag held high. By G. Renesch of Chicago, it bears the observation "Colored Man Is No Slacker." Some wrinkles, overall VG/F. The second shows two black soldiers each fighting a squad of German foes. The heroes are Henry Johnson and Needham Roberts, who have received the Croix de Guerre, with a legend reading that they are "Honored as Heroes" and that the "Colored Man is Eager to Show His Mettle and Do His Bit." Fragmented and in poor condition, but included for its great interest. Estimate US$ 150-200
