Nepal, Kathmandu, Jaya Bhaskara Malla (1701-1715), Mohar (3), NS 821, Obv. trident and legend in four lines Śrī Śrī/ Jaya/Bhāskara in central circle, the eight Buddhist auspicious emblems (astamangala) in petals, Rev. two horizontal lines, possibly representing two pseudo-Persian characters within central circle, sword with garland in centre and legend in three lines Malla/Deva/821, one syllable each of the legend Nepāleśvara Girindra (Lord of Nepal, King of the Hills) in the eight petals, (RGV 289), very fine or a little better, the last fine; Mohar, NS 821, much as before, Obv. additional groups of three dots (RGV 292), good very fine; Mohar, NS 821 (2), much as before, Rev. additional groups of three dots in central circle (RGV 293), toned, good very fine; Suki, NS 818, Obv. trident in centre between two lines, possibly representing pseudo-Persian letters, legend in four lines Śrī 2/Jaya/Bhāska/ra, Rev. conch in centre between two lines, possibly representing pseudo-Persian letters, legend in three lines, Malla/Deva/818, 1.41g, 12h (RGV 300; KM 215), extremely fine and scarce in this condition (7)

vii) As this coin is dated three years before Jaya Bhaskara ascended the throne, Rhodes et al. (1987) assume that NS 818 (AD 1698) was the year when Bhaskara was installed as heir apparent to the throne.
