Princess Alice of Hesse (1843-1878)
c1863 Photograph of Princess Alice, second daughter of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, seated on the Prince Consort's pony at Balmoral Castle, with her Malay servant, Willem Koetje, who was employed by Princess Alice and her husband the Grand Duke of Hesse in their household at Kranichstein. Sadly he died in Hesse before the decade ended. A rare image by G.W. Wilson, mounted on card (8.5x13cm)
