1841 (12 May) Autograph letter written by Peter Hoey "a Chartist", posted to John Fielden MP at the House of Commons in support of a "petition in favour of factory children" bearing 256 signatures. Hoey (1802-1875), who writes from Barnsley, was a significant personality in the Chartist movement, while Fielden was Parliament's foremost advocate of the Ten Hours movement to limit the working hours of women and children in factories.
