1836 Autograph letter written in the third person as Foreign Secretary to King William IV recommending Mr Hugh Wilson "a highly respected merchant" be appointed Consul at Arica (Chile) in the Pacific. Signed below the last sentence "Appd / William R". Documents of this nature were signed by the monarch at the conclusion (and not at the head) in order to prevent any further additions after receiving Royal approval. Slight splitting along the folds (18x23cm)
