1471 manuscript indenture tripartite in Latin on vellum in the name of George (Neville) Archbishop of York, primate of England and Henry Belknap and John Godstone, relating to land in the manor of Remenham in the parish of Wraysbury, Bucks (now Berkshire) and other lands, arranging for rents to be paid during the lifetimes of John Breknok and Elizabeth his wife. Upon their deaths the manors are to pass to Thomas Stonor and others named.
The named Archbishop of York was the youngest son of Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury and younger brother of Richard Neville, Earl of Warwick and Salisbury. One of the most influential families in the land after being instrumental in assisting Edward IV to seize the throne from Henry VI.
The document is historically important due to being produced during the final months of the Wars of the Roses, and a month prior to the Battles of Barnet and Tewksbury. This is reflected in the document as it refers to the contested sovereignty of both Edward IV and Henry VI.
The document lacks the original seals, has folds and creases with four worm holes not detracting, accompanied by a translation and background information (260x480mm)
