Parliamentary Navy
1646-52, four documents of Naval subject:

1646 (4 Aug.) warrant signed by Robert Rich, 2nd Earl of Warwick, John Rolle, John Trevor, Sir Henry Vane and John Lisle (regicide) to the Commissioners of the Navy ordering the revictualling of the Summer fleet.

1646 (3 Sept.) document signed Sir Robert Rich, Earl of Warwick, Basil Fielding, Earl of Denbigh, Francis Lenard, Baron Dacre and Alexander Bence as Lords and Commissioners of the Admiralty and Cinque Ports at Westminster to "Our very loving friends the commissioners of the navy royal". Contents include "whereas the cygnet frigate is now destitute of a carpenter by the death of Robert Wilkinson ... [therefore suggesting that] ... William Sherbrook sometimes carpenter of his majesties late ship the Roebuck [take his place]". Despite being a Parliamentary document, the Navy is referred to here as the "Navy Royall".

1646 (6 Aug.) Admiralty order signed by Denxil Holles, 1st Baron Holles, Sir Philip Stapelton, Thomas Hoyle (Merchant Prideaux), all members of the Committee of Lords and Commons for the Admiralty and Cinque Ports ordering the immediate victualling of the Frigate at Liverpool "so she may the more expeditiously return to her station in the North of Ireland".

1652 (22 October) warrant signed by Sir William Constable as President of State given at Westminster to the Commissioners of the Navy appointing Andrew Smythe to be a cooke aboard the "Prize Shipp called the Welcome, heretofore the [name'd] Meddenblick, whereof John Harman is Commander, now setting forth to Sea in the service of the Commonwealth".

A fine group and a scarce range of signatures.
