Sir Edward Nichols
1643 (30 October) autograph letter signed at Oxford with integral address panel reading "For Mr. Walker ..." in which he appoints a "Mr. Stubbs(?)" as Waggon master ... for carrying of prisoners to Rupert".

A rare signature and a well reserved letter with light reinforcement as is often found.

Notes: Sir Edward Nicholas (1596-1669) served as Secretary of State to Charles I and, as we will see, to Charles II - Charles I was especially fond of him and held him among his most senior and trusted advisors.
