1628 (21 July) ALS "Buckingham" by George Villiers, 1st Duke to Sir Robert Heath, Attorney General in which a pension of £100 p.a. is given to William Lea for life; some professional repairs and with integral address panel. Buckingham was murdered (stabbed) by John Felton just a month after this letter was penned, preparing for war in France.

Also 1672 (2 April) letter signed "Buckingham" by George Villiers, 2nd Duke to Geoffrey Copley, Thomas Wentworth and other Deputy Lieutenants of West Riding with integral address panel marked "To be left and Doncaster" and "On his Majstis: Service", struck with indistinct Bishop mark; the letter enquires as to the availability of men for the King's fleet. The reverse panels rebacked.
