Die Proofs in black on glazed card (92x60mm) (6): ½d. (4), two with uncleared surround, both dated "9 oct. 01" and marked either "before hardening" and "after hardening", the latter with manuscript "½d. News Wrapper Original Die No. 34", two with cleared surround, one without marking, the other dated "23 oct. 01" and marked "after/hardening"; and 1d.(2), neither with markings on face, one with crayon inscription on reverse reading "Working Die No 33 1d. Wrappers". A scarce group.
