1847-55 group of covers (6) with 1847 (13 Nov.) entire letter to Hull, without stamps, 1/- rate paid in cash, and marked "registered Letter 1/2" in red ink (paying postage as well as registration in cash), with undated Crowle in blue and Bawtry c.d.s. on the address side, the flap with Hull arrival (14.11) in blue; 6d. rate paid in cash (4) with 1849 (7 Dec.) and 1850 (7 May) stampless entire letters to Oporto, Portugal "via Southampton" marked "Registered Letter", rated "7/6" and "1/9" rate marks respectively; 1853 (10 Aug.) Brocklehurst blue entire to Macclesfield bearing 1855-57 4d. rose-carmine (Large Garter) (2) tied by London "24" numerals, marked "registered" and showing a good strike of the open oval "registered/g.p.o." code "E" datestamp; 1855 (31 Mar.) envelope to Workington bearing 1847-54 Embossed 6d. dull lilac (cut into left side) with 1d. Stars (corner torn off and reaffixed before posting) tied by "723" numerals with Southampton despatch alongside, manuscript "Registered"; and 3d. rate paid in stamps 1872 (1 Aug.) small envelope to Paris bearing 1872-73 6d, chestnut, plate 11 MA tied by London W.C. barred oval with the registered despatch c.d.s. at left, marked "Registered" with "chargé". A good group.
