First Trial: 1857 (17 Sept.) neat envelope to Chiswick bearing 1d. Stars cancelled by a fine strike of this very rare and elusive postmark without name, code "M", there is an offset impression on the reverse (part of the flap is missing) and straight-line "Whitechapel" in bluish. This is thought to have been Pearson Hill's original rough model an is only known used on this one day. Photo
