A selection of Publicity Wafer Seals including Free Trade: 1840 (15 Feb.) entire to Forfar from Manchester bearing label "... Thanks for cheap postage - May we soon get cheap bread! - Free communication with all parts of the empire is good; free trade with all parts of the world will be still better" and sealed with biblical seal; Temperance: 1841 (19 Sept.) entire to Worcester sealed with yellow "The bottle has killed more than the sword" and 1849 1d. pink envelope from London to Dover sealed with yellow "Read the Prize Essays against Beershops. Price 6d. each. Houlston and Stoneman"; The Christian Church 1845 (27 March) "Adhesive Motto Wafers for the Christian Church" printed envelope from Norwich to Oswestry; also 1838 patriotic envelope, lettersheet and print on royal theme, and c.1901 Harry Furniss Boer War illustrated envelope, unused. A wonderful group.
