Uniform Penny Post Handstamps
Wiltshire: A small group with Marlborough: 1840 (21 Nov.) entire to Southampton showing a very fine strike of the large "paid/1" in red, the flap with neat despatch and arrival c.d.s.; also 1843 (3 Oct.) entire to Newbury with a superb strike of the "paid/1" with despatch and arrival c.d.s. on the flap. 1844 (10 Nov.) printed advertisement sheet to London bearing a fine strike of the large "paid/2" in red with London tombstone Paid alongside, the reverse with a very fine strike of the despatch c.d.s.; late use of this scarce marking. Two good covers showing small variations in the handstamp. Swindon: 1844 (11 Feb.) wrapper to Cirencester bearing a good strike of the "P / "handstamp with Swindon despatch below; the reverse with a fair strike of the scarce, undated Wootton Bassett and a fine arrival c.d.s. Fresh and fine. (4 covers)
