1909-13 Essays
A requisition was passed to De La Rue on December 15 1909, calling for a new one-colour issue. During the next few years the printers submitted a number of different essays each with a vignette based on the "Badge of the Colony" but none was ever accepted and the idea was finally dropped.
"L" - 10/- composite essay in large vertical format with frame in dark blue, head and vignette in deep yellow-brown, affixed to card, affixed to card (88x114mm.) lettered "l.", dated "April 11th 13." and marked "Colours reversed on Design". Card a touch foxed otherwise very fine and unique, unissued. Photo
