James II (1685-1688), Five-Guineas, 1688 QVARTO, second larger laureate head left, with flared nostril, rev. four crowned shields cruciform, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, eleven strings to harp, edge lettered downwards, 41.67g, 6h (MCE 119; EGC I, 315; S.3397A), lightly flecked and with scarcely perceptible cabinet marks below truncation, otherwise with attractive blooming to fields and orange hueing to legends, the devices unusually sharp for issue with an attractively bold portrait, almost extremely fine and rare thus
