NGC UNC | John 'Lackland' (1199-1216), 'Short Cross' Penny, c. 1200-1204, Class 5c, London, Willem, hEN[RICVS R]EX, letter X in form of St. Andrew's cross, crowned bust facing, head within circle, holding sceptre, rev. WILLEM ON LVN, voided short cross pommée, cross pommées in angles, 1.44g [22.22grns], 10h (North 971; S.1352), some peripheral striking softness and bright with mottled toning, otherwise with a supreme portrait for this much maligned King, almost extremely fine, in NGC holder, harshly graded UNC Details (Cert. #8773844-002)
