(x) Edward III (1327-1377), Treaty/Post-Treaty Period Mule, Half-Noble, 1369-1377, Tower (London), struck with a Treaty Period Group B die, ED | WARD 'x DEI : G 'x REX : AnGL ': D ': hYB x S x AQ - T, annulet before ED, single and double saltire stops, closed E, lombardic Ns, scroll-tailed R, King standing in ship, brandishing long sword and Royal shield set with semé of four fleurs in first quarter, wearing Royal jupon over brigandine armour, ropes 3/1, quatrefoils 5/4, bow-sprit through foc'sul, interior of castle now cross-hatched, ornaments 1-1-1-1, leopards facing right, rev. + DOMInE : nE : In : FVRORE : TVO : ARGVAS : ME, double saltire stops, floriate cross, crowned leopards in angles, E• at centre, 3.763g [58.07grns], 5h, i.m. cross pattée (Lawrence, 'The Coinage of Edward III from 1351: Part IV', Numismatic Chronicle, Vol. 49 [1933], p. 41 and Pl. XIX, no. 6 this coin [Treaty/Post Treaty Mule]; Doubleday 295 this coin; Schneider I, -, cf. 88-89/ S.1523 [obv. as 1518]), reverse struck off-centre and with softness to visage, otherwise wholesomely original and accentuations of lustre in recesses, strictly very fine, yet OF THE HIGHEST RARITY, no "true" Post-Treaty Half-Nobles being known for London, with an esteemed pedigree and residual traces of red wax from the historic 1933 plate illustration
