(x) Edward III (1327-1377), Fourth Coinage, Pre-Treaty Period, Quarter-Noble, 1356-1361, Series Gf/Gg Mule, Tower (London), + EDWAR 'x R 'x ANGL 'x 7 x FRANC x D hY, saltire stops, Royal shield set with semé of three fleurs in first quarter, inside double-tressure of eight arches, rev. + EXLTABITVR x IN x GLORIA, saltire stops, unbarred Roman N, floriate cross, with extra fronds on stems, leopards in angles, and large pellet flanking upper lys, large E in centre, 1.479g [22.82grns], 5h, m.m. cross pattée (LAL Gf/Gg, no. 3 / die unlisted, Doubleday -, 150-151 same obverse die / cf. 158-159 ['EXATABITVR']; Schneider I, - cf. 49; North 1191; S.1498), minor daylight spots at 7 o'clock, otherwise largely unclipped, with natural residual tone and lustre, bolder than fine / very fine, and extremely rare, presently unrepresented in the Schneider collection
