(x) Henry I 'Beauclerc' (1100-1135), 'Pellets in Quatrefoil' Type, Penny, Thetford, Norman / Northman, [+ HEN]RICVS R :, crowned bust facing, holding sceptre, star in right field, rev. + NOR[MAN ON] TETF, pellets in quatrefoil with star in centre and pellets on limbs, four inverted lys around, 0.75g [11.57grns], 10h (PWP Carlyon-Britton, "Some Coins of Henry I", BNJ [1927], p. 104 this coin listed; SCBI 27 [Lincolnshire], 2408-2410; North 870; BMC XIV [Coll. no. -; 1944,0401.282 same dies]; S.1275), once a magnificent coin, but today merely a large fragment of what used to be, nevertheless beautifully toned with embers of fiery-red and golden hues, struck details bordering extremely fine, the 'discovery' piece for this moneyer and with a sublime pedigree to the mysterious 'Bournemouth' (1901) trove
