Stephen of Blois (1135-1154), Civil War Local/Irregular Issues, Southern Variant, Penny, c. 1141-1145, Southampton [?], Sanson [?], + ST[IEFNE : R]EX, crowned and draped bust right, with annulet collar, sceptre before, rev. + S[....]: ON SAS, first S recumbent, voided cross moline with inward fleurs, annulet at centre, 0.92g [14.20grns], 9h (Mack 207-213; North 905; S.1295), a trace off-struck with resulting flan splits, otherwise with a richer field patina and bolder for issue, technically fine, but rather better for type and with a mysterious legend reading
