A Great War Cambrai M.M. awarded to Corporal E. J. Jupp, Tank Corps, late Royal Sussex Regiment

Military Medal, G.V.R. (75914 Cpl E. J. Jupp. 'B' Bn: Tank Corps.), a small edge bruise and light contact marks, otherwise very fine

M.M. London Gazette 19 March 1918.

This soldier on 23.11.1917 approaching the village of FONTAINE, was wounded in the right arm, rendering it almost useless. In spite of great opposition by the enemy, this N.C.O. managed to keep his gun firing for several hours, and also helped the other gunners in the tank to remedy stoppages. By his action and devotion to duty the tank was enabled to inflict heavy casualties on the enemy.

Ernest J. Jupp originally served as G-1795 with the Royal Sussex Regiment and entered the war in France on 25 July 1915. He transferred over to the Tank Corps where he won his Military Medal. He is further entitled to a 1914-15 Star Trio. Despite being wounded there is no record of him receiving a Silver War Badge.
