(x) The Delhi Durbar Medal 1911 awarded to Gunner W. A. Gillett who served aboard H.M.S. Medina, the ship famous for carrying the newly appointed King George V and Queen Mary to the Delhi Durbar of 1911

Confirmed on the Coronation Durbar Medal Roll 1911.

The Medina personally transported King George V and Queen Mary from Britain to Bombay in 1911. The ship was converted to a royal yacht-like vessel for the historically important journey as it enabled the only visit by a reigning British monarch to the Delhi Durbar in order to be personally proclaimed Emperor of India.

W. A. Gillett served with the Royal Marine Artillery under the service number 7244. He was further entitled to the Queen's South Africa Medal for his service aboard H.M.S. Gibraltar and saw Great War service where he was awarded the 1914-15 Star Trio seeing most of his service on Shannon. He died on 9 September 1954.
