(x) Abyssinia 1867-68 (1188 D. Hall 1st Battn 4th The K.O.R. Regt), very fine
David Hall was born in Keighley, York in circa 1839 and worked as a Mechanic before he enlisted into the 56th (West Essex) Regiment of Foot aged 18 years old as a Private on 16 December 1857 and served with them until 30 November 1865. Having volunteered with the 1st Battalion, 4th King's Own Royal Regiment from 30 November 1865, he then formally transferred on 1 December. Throughout this time, Hall served in the East Indies for 9 and a half years until his retirement upon his return in 1868 after being found unfit for further service on 9 June due to "weak lungs". His conduct had always been good and he was in possession of one good conduct badge.
