Auction: 26001 - Orders, Decorations and Medals
Lot: 142
(x) Four: Sergeant C. G. Kirkham, Supply & Transport Corps, later Southern Rhodesian Forces
British War and Victory Medals (27875 T-Sgt. C. G. Kirkham. S.T.C.); India General Service 1908-35, 1 clasp, Afghanistan N.W.F. 1919 (27875 T-Sgt. C. G. Kirkham, S.T.C.), officially re-impressed naming; Southern Rhodesia Medal for War Service 1939-45 (C. G. Kirkham), privately engraved naming, very fine and a scarce combination (4)
Two MICs exist under the name Kirkham with the service number 27875 one for the 7th Hussars issued by the British Government and the other for the Indian Army Service Corps. The 7th Hussars started the war in Egypt and ended it in Mesopotamia so it is entirely possible that both MICs relate to the same man who was performing a supply role with that unit.
