Waterloo 1815 (Fredrick Koch 3rd. Reg. Hussars, K.G.L.), original steel clip with replacement suspension of recent manufacture, some pitting, overall very fine
Purchased Spink, August 1988.
Fredrick Koch served with Captain George Meyer's Troop of the 3rd Regiment of Hussars, King's German Legion. This Regiment served with the 7th Cavalry Brigade, stationed to the rear of the infantry squares. They saw action during Marshal Ney's massed cavalry assault on the British centre, holding the line to the rear of the infantry and helping to prevent the French from breaking the squares. The fighting was savage enough that Meyer was killed in action; sold together with the original invoice.
