Waterloo 1815, fitted with replacement white metal hinged straight suspension (James Lancashire, Royal Horse Guards.), very fine
James Lancashire was born at Manchester, Lancashire in 1783 and enlisted at Salford in 1805 for 'unlimited service'. He was a member of Major W. Tyrwhitt-Drake's Troop at Waterloo and completed his service on 24 April 1827, being admitted to the Pension List on 30 May 1827. Lancashire became a Chelsea Pensioner on 1 July 1839 and his record of entry notes additional service in Spain, Portugal and France, and specifically at Vittoria, Pampeluna and Waterloo. Lancashire died in Kensington in 1841, therefore not living to claim a Military General Service Medal.
