The Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank was established in 1862, and entered the Isle of Man through its acquisition of the Mercantile Bank, only to be later incorporated into Martins Bank Limited in 1928.

According to Isle of Man Paper Money, only two notes were recorded as being issued with this date. This note was last seen on the market in 2017 and our cataloguers have been unable to find the other known note. Therefore, the note presented here is extremely rare!
