(x) Manx Bank Branch of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank Limited, £1, Douglas, 7th September 1917, serial number 30819,
The Lancashire & Yorkshire Bank was established in 1862, and entered the Isle of Man through its acquisition of the Mercantile Bank, only to be later incorporated into Martins Bank Limited in 1928.
According to Isle of Man Paper Money, only a single note is recorded as being issued with this date. The serial number offered here is the only example which our cataloguers have been able to trace on the market, leading us to conclude that this note is the one known note of this date and type.
An extremely rare find for collectors of Isle of Man, Great Britain, or one of a kind banknotes.
(Pick 7, IOMPM M318), about extremely fine, multiple folds and creases but impressive condition across its edges and corners, in great condition for such a rare note of this age! Extremely rare!
