Ernest Valentine Bowyer was born in 1888, a resident of Temple Bor, Peterchurch, Hereford. He served throughout the Great War with the Herefordshire Regiment, entering the war at Gallipoli with on 9 August 1915 (1914-15 Star and Pair). Demobilised and returned to the reserve on 28 April 1919 he was posted to the 10th (Cheshire and Shropshire Yeomanry) Battalion afterwards, being awarded the T.F.E. with them; sold together with copied research.
