Daniel Gilbert enlisted with the Cheshire Regiment but was later transferred to the 7th Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry with whom he appears to have served for much of the war. After the end of hostilities, he returned to the Cheshire Regiment with the service number 68762; sold together with copied research.
