Pair: Private P. R. Winterborn, 19th (Alexandra, Princess of Wales's Own) Hussars, who was taken a Prisoner of War at Zandspruit in June 1900

Percy Robert Winterborn was born at Battersea, London and attested into the 19th Hussars on 28 April 1890 and saw service in the East Indies between 1 September 1891-5 November 1897. He was transferred to the Army Reserve on 7 November 1897 but was recalled to the service on 13 November 1899. He served in South Africa between 5 December 1899-10 August 1902, during which time he was taken a Prisoner of War at Zanspruit on 18 June 1900. Noted as dangerously ill at Nooitgedacht in August 1900, he was released from that place on 5 September 1900 and was then admitted to hospital in Cape Town.

He was discharged on 23 August 1902. Married to Anne Maria Cornish at the parish church Brondesbury, Middlesex on 24 February 1919 and served as a postman based at Paddington. Winterborn died in 1941.
