Highrs.), regimentally engraved naming and private rivet on this last, good very fine (5)

John Armstrong was born in 1872 at Longtown, Cumberland and was a farm servant before attesting into the Seaforth Highlanders on 24 October 1891. He served in the East Indies from 28 January 1893 - 22 January 1897, then served in Malta 23 January 1897 - 21 March 1897 before serving in Crete from 22 March 1897 - 24 November 1897 before briefly returning to Malta from 25 November 1897 - 4 January 1898. Armstrong then served in Egypt between 5 January 1898 - 13 May 1900 before heading to South Africa where he served between 14 May 1900 - 2 September 1902. His remaining service was at Home serving between 3 September 1902 - 23 October 1912 and during this time he was awarded his L.S. & G.C. (A.O.73a 1 April 1910). Armstrong was discharged at Fort George, Inverness on 23 October 1912.
