The Nicholas Rhodes Collection of Nepalese Coins and Medals: Part One
The first medal has the name J?napada D?rgha Sev? Patta and was awarded to civil service personnel serving for 25 consecutive years. It was instituted on 1 September 1937.
The second medal was first instituted in 1945 this medal was awarded for service in the Assam-Burma theatre during World War II.
The fourth medal was struck for the coronation of Tribuvan Vir Vikram. Normally the VS era year is converted into Western Era year by subtracting 57 years which in this case would result in AD 1974. However, the coronation took place in February 1975, before the New Year 2032 of the Vikram Samvat Era had started.
The fifth medal is referred to as Durgama Sevā Padaka and was instituted on 26 December 26 1963. The medal was awarded to personnel of the Royal Nepalese Army who were serving at least for six consecutive months in an area 10,000 feet above sea level or in other areas of difficult access.
The sixth medal was awarded to police personnel after serving for twelve consecutive years. It was instituted on June 8, 1966.
The seventh medal was instituted on December 26th, 1963 and awarded to the Royal Army personnel for military service abroad in response to the UN call for help to friendly foreign countries.
The eight medal was instituted on June 9th, 1965. It was awarded to police personnel for meritorious service.
The ninth and tenth medals were instituted 25 December 1966 and awarded to civil service personnel for fifteen years of service.
The last medal was instituted 8 June 8 1966 and awarded to Royal Army personnel serving for ten consecutive years.
