Wreck Mail
1955 (30 Nov.) M.V. "Ocean Mail", fire broke out in the mail room when an adjacent bulkhead was being welded following a collision with "Arizona" in the Columbia River, USA on 30 November; 8 November envelope (charred and stained) from Ottawa to Singapore, 4c. stamp washed off and showing a good strike of the "damaged in ship fire/at seattle" h.s. in red. Photo

Note: The ship was able to resume it's journey to Malaysia without the damaged mail which was returned to Vancouver where the Post Office sorted it out and applied the "Damaged" cachet.
