Early Patriotic Card: 1899 (23 Oct.) Rule Britannia "Private Post Card" (Rowe 50-2, winking lion) to Sydney, Nova Scotia bearing ½c. green tied by Montreal flag postmark with the arrival c.d.s. (25.10) on the reverse. The message was an encouragement to enlist, "If you are not a Boer, go to the war. England expects every man to do his duty". Photo
