War Declared: 1899 (23 Oct.) envelope to Johannesburg bearing Canada 2c. carmine tied by Montreal c.d.s. with a superb strike of the boxed "mail service suspended." struck in purple and manuscript "T" in blue crayon; the reverse with "returned letter office/cape town" c.d.s. (13.1) in mauve and a large part strike of "d.l.o. canada/ottawa branch" (20.3) c.d.s. Some minor ageing. Believed to be one of only three such covers sent from Canada. Photo
