1820-1916, a selection of Kent Ship Letters (11) with 1846 entire (reinforced) from Rio de Janeiro to London bearing "folkstone/ship letter" (S.4) in black; 1824 entire letter from Brussels to Yorkshire bearing "ship letter/gravesend" (S.7) in black and "brussel/franco" in red; 1825 entire letter from Bilbao to London with S.7; 1836 entire from Cuba to London bearing "Gravesend/Ship Letter" (S.9) in black; 1820 entire to London with "margate ship letter" (S.3) in black; 1843 entire letter from Buenos Ayres to London bearing "margate/ship-lre" (S.4) in black; 1841 entire to London with "new romney/ship letter" (S.5) in black; 1842 entire from Buenos Ayres to London with same; 1843 from Mexico to London with same as well as blue New Orleans transit d.s.; 1831 entire letter from Hamburg to London with "ship letter/queenboro" (S.5) in black; and 1916 envelope to Ramsgate marked "Stamps no Available", censor mark and "receive from h.m. ship/no charge to be raised". Offered together with some bookplate illustrations of the ports in questions as well as charming engraved vignette of Margate with embossed surround. Generally fine.
