1704 (11 April) entire letter from Hugh Payne in Minehead with address panel reading "To Charles Orchard Esq. at Exon; or at his house in Aldercomb ni the Parish of Kilkhampton in Cornwall", endorsed on face "Free: H Payne", sent via Taunton with manuscript "Taunton" town marking on reverse, in lieu of the first handstruck marking for this town. Most interesting and unusual, being an example of Cross Post set Free, likely the earliest known example.
