1705 (28 March) entire letter from Captain Passenger of H.M.S. 'Shoreham' with address panel reading "To the Rt Hon Edward Southwell Esq Secretary of State of Ireland at his castle in Dublin", endorsed "On Her Majesty's Service", charged "9" in error, and deleted as the addressee was entitled to Free Mail; the reverse struck with Bristol Bishop "m/27". Interesting contents cover changes to command of small warships for Duke of Ormonde. Some repairs to paper loss in relation to opening, most important being the only 'Admiralty' letter with deleted charge mark; Also with 1685 entire letter from Aleppo to Edward Fischer in London with "9" admiratly charge and Bishop mark on reverse.
