1600 (6 September) entire letter from Jeronimo Volpi in Milan (under Spanish rule) to Bartholomew Corsini in London; Volpi carried the letter to Frankfurt, where he added a postscript. The letter then travelled to Sr Hartmanns, the Postmaster of Middleburgh, conveyed by Antonio Ramondi who applied the charge "P3", where it then entered the Thurna nd Taxis post to Corsini in London. On receipt in Middleburg, Hartman applied the endorsements "Per Questa", "Londra" and "Per Middelbro dy Sr Hartmans", charging "1½ [groats]". Most unusual showing endorsements from various postal services.
