Lot: 1531

Uganda
1902 (24 Feb.) OHMS envelope (225x95mm.; central vertical fold) from F. Pordage at Buddu to London, bearing 1898 2a. tied by very fine "buddu" double-ring d.s. without year and showing, on reverse, Mengo (1.3) and Mombasa (11.3) transit datestamps

Note: F. Pordage was not one of the seven officers entitled to frank OHMS mail; originally, the Buddu c.d.s. was applied direct to the cover, but then a postage stamp to cover the double rate to England was affixed and the datestamp struck again to cancel the adhesive.
