1933 (4 Apr.) the Kanchenjunga Flight; envelope to Arizona bearing India 1a. 3p. pair tied by "houston mount everest flight/purnea" datestamp (5.4) struck in purple and endorsed at the side, "Certified that this envelope has been flown over Kanchenjunga april 4th/33" and signed by P.F.M. Fellowes; the reverse bearing the three-line expedition handstamp; light soiling. With newspaper cutting of Fellowes bearing the illustrative expedition handstamp. It is reported that Commadore Fellowes lost his way in the clouds landed at Dinajpur. He sent a telegram to Purnea requesting petrol but when Lord Clydeside arrived a few hours later, petrol supplies were still inadequate.
